Jake Friedman just posted two fantastic videos from Art Babbitt's archives here and here.

Enjoy!

This just in from Jim Korkis:

[Here is a short video from the March 1948 Oscar ceremony where James Baskett accepted an honorary Oscar for his portrayal of Uncle Remus in Song of the South.  That moment occurs at the 1:50 mark on the video.]

[Astonishing how part of this short recalls Kay Nielsen's concept sketches...]

D23 Presents Armchair Archivist: Weird Disney

D23 Presents: Armchair Archivist - A Look at Walt's Planes!

Walt in Argentina (1941)

I believe some of you will enjoy those rare images of Walt in Argentina, which I bought from a friend recently.

When Jim Korkis saw this clip last week he realized right away that this video had been included as part of the bonuses of the Three Caballeros Laser Disc.

Speaking of which: Would any of you own the Three Caballeros, Alice in Wonderland, Snow White and Pinocchio laser discs? Do you have a way to transfer the bonuses to a DVD? If that is the case, could you please email me?

D23 Presents: Armchair Archivist - A Visit To Marceline!

Disneyland - 4.26 - Magic Highway U.S.A.

We watched a few months ago the newsreel of the Macy's Parade from 1934. Here is the one from 1935, which includes quite a few more Disney characters.

Armchair Archivist Saddles Up! A Very Special Smoke Tree Ranch Episode

Walt Disney on The Jack Benny Hour, 1965

Here is to start 2012 with a smile. To 2011 I say: good riddance. Happy New Year to all of you!

Would anyone happen to have a copy of the Ed Sullivan show from February 1953 which featured Walt Disney? I would love to see it! (see David Lesjak's post on this subject from two years ago)

This just in from Gunnar Andreassen:

[Babes in Toyland (also called March of the Wooden Soldiers) has previously been mentioned on your blog as a movie with "Disney contents", but I haven't seen a link to it. It's found on Youtube - even the full version. It can also be bought as a DVD or blu-ray. Here's a link to the colorized version, see "Mickey Mouse" and "The Three Little Pigs" from 01.26:

The question is: The actor playing "Mickey Mouse" is he a monkey or a kangaroo ?]

Jim Korkis saw this posted at Mark Evanier's site www.newsfromme.com and felt that Disney fans might enjoy seeing this Movietone newsreel of musician Spike Jones performing Der Fueher's Face during wartime.

I just found this short video of the 'Showman of the Year' ceremony in 1967 at Cinematographers Exhibitors Association Conference, Brighton. Sussex, and thought you might enjoy it.

[Here is a link to some publica domain Disney newsreels.]

Today we follow President Eisenhower during his visit of Disneyland.

We have all seen the photo of the big Mickey Mouse from the 1934 Macy's parade. In these two videos we see him getting prepared and then "in action".

In 1946 Walt and Lilly travelled to the UK and to Ireland. I have a feeling that you will enjoy this interview conducted when they landed in London. And here they are arriving in Southampton.

Tour of Walt Disney's Office

This just in thanks to Jim Korkis and Mike Scopa.

While looking for something else, I stumbled onto this two filmed reports from the Italian L.U.C.E.:

Walt's trip to Venice in 1951 (I had only seen photos until today) and Walt visiting Torino in 1961.
