Interesting photo of a meeting between Ward Kimball and Tezuka Osamu (creator of Astroboy).

Thanks to Paul Reiter for the information (through MichaelBarrier.com) which allowed me to locate it.

That images, and quite a bit of text concerning Tezuka/Disney can be found in this book:

I also recommend "The Astro Boy Essays", which is ostensibly about Astro Boy but has detailed passages on Osamu Tezuka's relationship to Western cartoons and Disney, etc.

The book was written by Frederik Schodt (the man pictured to the right of Tezuka in that photograph), who was a friend to Tezuka and served as his translator and interpreter in the 70s and 80s :)

The photo was taken by Shinnichi Suzuki, I believe. The other man shown is me, Frederik L. Schodt. In addition to Helen's book, you can find lots of information on Tezuka in my book, The _Astro Boy Essays: Osamu Tezuka, Mighty Atom, and the Manga/Anime Revolution_ (Berkeley: Stone Bridge Press, 2007), and also Natsu Onoda Power's _God of Comics: Osamu Tezuka and the Creation of Post-World War II Manga_ (University Press of Mississippi, 2009), as well as others.
