I am back and I have a lot to share with all of you. Let's start with some very time-sensitive news:

There are three major auctions that should note be missed:

- Heritage Auctions on June 11 and 12, which includes the only know example of Kay Nielsen's work on The Reluctant Dragon (above).
- Bonhams with a few beautiful Mary Blairs on June 13.
- Van Eaton Galleries with some absolutely spectacular items (animation, theme parks and overall Disneyana) on June 18.

Kay Nielsen's style is very much japanese. He also produced
one artwork for the Rite of Spring segment of Fantasia, that
doesn't get much attention

The work Kay Nielsen created for Beauty and the Beast also has what looks to me like an Art Nouveau / Japanese influence.

Did Kay Nielsen created artwork for Beauty and the Beast?

That is a VERY good question. He did (one piece of artwork only is known). But the real question is: Did he create it for Disney? I have no positive confirmation of that, although it is at least possible since this was a property that the Studio was considering at the time he was there.
