It will be a night to remember with our special speaker and guests.Well we have a great meeting planned for you! And look forward to seeing as many of you there as possible. Let's all try to turn out and show our support for our chapter and our special guest speaker! Our speakers always have lots of funny, informative and great stories to tell us ....
The next World Chapter meeting for Disney Enthusiasts IS Saturday, August 9, 2008! Our Very Special "Be Our Guest" Speaker will be … Disney Historian.... Jim Korkis
Internationally recognized Disney Historian Jim Korkis is a published author with several books and hundreds of articles on Disney history to his credit, a former Disney Institute animation instructor, and a contributor to the popular “Walt’s People” book series.
“Walt Talks”. Jim will share rarely heard audio clips of Walt Disney himself talking about his career, his characters and Disneyland from radio shows and public appearances in the 30s, 40s and 50s. In addition, Jim will share some background material and special stories about Walt.
“Sounds Like Walt” Background: While we have all enjoyed reading the words of Walt Disney and watching him introduce his weekly television program, few people today have had the opportunity to hear him talk “off the cuff”. Disney Historian Jim Korkis has borrowed from the collections of fellow Disney authorities worldwide some of those rarely heard moments including Walt talking in Marceline, Missouri on July 4, 1956 before the dedication of the Walt Disney Municipal Park and Pool, Walt’s talk to the Disneyland cast at the Disneyland Hotel on July 17, 1965 celebrating Disneyland’s 10th birthday, a long lost 1936 Los Angeles radio interview where Walt does Mickey's voice and many more surprises. All of these moments were unscripted and showcase Walt’s personal sense of humor and storytelling. This is a brand new, once-in-a-lifetime presentation created by Jim especially for the NFFC to experience the real Walt Disney.
This promises to a very special night as we always have a few surprises planned as well!
