Don't assume anything! Here is the French Legion of Honnor photo again that keeps haunting me.

One of the blog readers, Kevin, clarified that the man on the photo is the French consul and that the the photo can been seen in the book Disney the first 100 years by Dave Smith and Steven Clark.

I had always assumed that Walt had received the French Legion of Honnor during his trip to Europe in 1935. That is clearly not the case (what would a French consul do in his own country?). Disney seems to have received the medal in 1936 in the US.
