I received this photo of Sergei Eisenstein's 1930 visit to the Walt Disney Studios from Alexei Kobelev, through Nancy Beiman. (This photo also appears in the article titled Eisenstein and Walt in the book Hollywood Flatlands by Esther Leslie).

Nancy was wondering if anyone on this blog knew of any correspondance between Walt and Eisenstein after this visit, as she sees clear similarities between the Ride of the Valkyries unfinished Fantasia sequence and Eisenstein's movie Alexander Nevsky (1938).

That photo (and several more) are published in the book Eisenstein on Disney, edited by Jay Leyda.
The book begins with this quote:
"The work of this master is the greatest contribution of the American people to art."

I guess Eisentstein knew about art.
