This just in from Are Myklebust:

[George Wheeler (also refered to as George D. Wheeler) was the artist behind the daily panel comic strip “True-Life Adventures”, which run in American newspapers from 1955 to 1973. It was written by Dick Huemer, a well known Disney animator and writer. Both worked on the “strip” during its complete run.

However very little is known about George Wheeler.

Could you please check out with your readers if anyone knows anything more about him, than the little information you can find about him here.]

  2. I am researching World War II glider pilots to ensure they receive recognition for their actions. Among those I encountered was George "Burt" Wheeler, a glider pilot stationed
in North Africa in 1943 and in Britain in 1944. Wheeler was described as a former "Disney
animator" in the wartime annals of his unit. He was disciplined at least once for drawing
human female breasts on the walls of the officers' club. I had no record of his flight activity or post-war activity until I came across the allusive history of George Wheeler as the artist behind True Life Adventures.
Does anyone have a picture of the animator? I would love to be able to at least post his name and photo on the glider pilots' website. Thanks.
