The second book that Michael Barrier recommended a few weeks ago when I was researching the career of Perce Pearce was Byron Haskin by Joe Adamson.
If you are interested in the making of Treasure Island or in the history of the Golden Age of Hollywood this is a book well worth reading, although it contains only about 20 pages focusing on Disney.
I LOVE Byron Haskin. What a personality he was. He appears many times in interviews (on laser disc) in Kevin Brownlow's epic "Hollywood, the Pioneers, a history of the silent film". He is both interesting and funny. What a talent and he has seen it all. He describes the earliest days in Hollywood and worked with directors like Mike Curtiz. I recently noticed he had directed an episode of "Voyage to the Bottom of the Sea". I'm buying this book for sure! Thanks for the heads up.
