We are flying out tomorrow to Salt Lake City for a 3-week vacation in Utah and Arizona. We will be staying for the first few days at the home of legendary Disney historian Paul F. Anderson. So while there should be few postings during those upcoming three weeks, I might manage to have a surprise for you on Monady or Tuesday next week.
While your in Salt Lake City, could you ask Paul if there will be another Persistence of Vision magazine published in the future? That magazine was realy great!
ReplyDeleteI hope that you have the opportunity to visit Monument Valley. It's breathtaking.
ReplyDeleteWow...what ever happened to Paul???? Tell him "hello"
ReplyDeleteThe magazine was great. How he left the suscribers wondering what happened was not great.
ReplyDeleteIt was really great. He should release another issue ... free of charge.
ReplyDeleteI got to this blog via a circuitous route that I began by googling Ensign Limited. I have a set of 25 square glass magic lantern slides of Disney's "3 Little Pigs," all housed in a box, and done in color (that is, not b&w, as many other sets were), that was made by Ensign LImited. No date available. I thought you might be interested to know about it, and I'd be interested in whatever you can tell me about it--or whatever I can tell you, if you like.

Yes, Persistence of Vision was great! But Paul, obviously, had no persistence himself regarding his publication!
ReplyDeleteBoy, he sure kept promissing a new issue "in a few months" that NEVER materialized...
It's not even for the money I lost on never received issues (For never published!).
Most will say that Paul is a great person: in that regard, I don't have the same motives to think so ...
Obviously, he has found better outlets to make money ...
I haven't checked but I am sure the POV site still proclaims that the next issue will offer this and that and has not been updated in years ... unless it's completely closed now!
A shame!
For those interested in the fate of ¨POV mag, read this double page thread: it's exactly what I went through myself!
ReplyDeleteI hope the money I lost was used wisely by Mister A.
(I can dream, can't I?)

FrenchDisneyFan,
ReplyDeleteWhile I see you point, let me just try and put the record straight: Paul spent the last 4 years fighting very, very serious life-threatening diseases that affected both he and his wife. To say that he ran into a streak of bad luck is an understatement. I would not wish to my worst enemy what happened to him and his family in the last few years.
He is only just back on his feet and the reason I decided to make this trip right now to see him was that I felt that I had postponed it way too long and that "the authority above" was telling me that I could well never have met him again.
Regarding the POV subscription: let's admit he did not communicate very well with subscribers about what was going on. If he owes you money, please email me at dghez@hotmail.com and I will transmit the messages for the moment. He is almost back and should be able to take care of unfinished business soon.
Hi Didier,
ReplyDeleteI hope that you enjoyed your visit with Paul and Holly (I believe that is his wife's name?). It has been quite some time since I've been in touch with him and really miss the contact, but I did not now how they'd been ill. I really do need to drop him a line/email.
Anyway, enjoy the scenery out there. I think what the east coast has in scenery that ranges from pretty to powerful, the west grabs the magnificent to awe-inspiring superlatives!
Chuck,
ReplyDeletePlease email me at dghez@hotmail.com and I will put you in touch with Paul.

Tjeerd: There might be one more issue in the future. We will know in a few months.
ReplyDeleteDidier, that's very great to read.
ReplyDeleteI will check your blog regulary.
