Believe it or not, I learn something about Disney history almost every day. You should not miss today this outstanding post by Jerry Beck on Cartoon Brew. I never heard about those BVD acquisitions and was fascinated by the whole episode.

And the comments on that post point us in the direction of the book below in which we might learn more about little known aspects of Disney history.

  1. There's an interesting letter from Walt Disney to Charles Chaplin that Diane had on display at the museum's offices in San Francisco with Walt thanking Chaplin for his assistance in getting some accounting work done on the box office receipts for Snow White.

    I wish I had a photographic memory, but I did find it interesting that Walt was working with Chaplin on this. I'm sure his early experiences in losing Oswald and the creative bookkeeping in Hollywood even back then prompted the eventual creation of the Buena Vista distribution arm.
