The only thing that bothers me is in the description it says reading level 9 to 12. That means it's not for animation fans at all, it's for kids and it will be written down for them. I was all exited about this book until I read that. I did not pre-order it. They also say it's a coffee table book. What 9 to 12 year old kids read Coffee Table books. The whole thing sounds like a big dud to me.
The 9-12 is the grade level that the text is written for. Most magazines, newspapers and general interest publications are written for an 8th grade reading level.
Coffee table just means it is larger than the typical oversize mom-fiction title. But just imagine how amazing the sketches and artwork is going to be in a large format title!
Forget that 9-12 thing. I don't know what that is all about. This book is a treasure of Disney animation art, and no real lover of the art of animation would want to be without it.
Yes, the cover is clever -- but the good stuff is on the inside. You'll see.
The only problem here is that most art books on Disney that are for collectors are not written for 8 year old's. I did buy a book about the animated movies that was supposed to have all these incredible never before seen art and sketches. The text was far more detailed than any 8 year old would be able to understand, or even want to read. And the so called unseen art and sketches where just rehashes of art that had been published many, many times. Nothing new in that book except incorrect information in the text.
I have been fooled a couple of times in the past, but not any more. I will wait till it comes out in the book stores and take a look for myself. If it's good then I will buy it, but I just have this gut feeling that it will be a dud for animation fans like myself.
After reading the description of the book at Amazon, this might be an incredible addition to the Disney literature.

Oh boy-Disney publishing keeps knockin' them out of the park. This is top of the list now just ahead of the 'story' book. Can't wait
