This is my Great Uncle Lansing. He was my favorite grandmother's only brother, and my dad's uncle. Unfortunately I never got to meet him in person. I did have the opportunity to speak with him by phone around 1979 when I moved to NYC. He was an incredibly kind uncle who sent me his own personalized hand-drawn cartoons when I wrote him as a child, which I still treasure today. My mother has a few of his cells that he created when he was still at Disney. In his early years as a cartoonist, he worked for the New York Herald Tribune, then struck out in the 30's or 40's for California to work for Disney, and later Hanna Barbera. He never had children, though he married 3 times I believe. His first wife Korah died young, and was his true love from what I gathered over the years. Lansing's own father was Secretary of the Dallas Cotton Exchange around the turn of the century, a man of great scruples and genuine honor. I am sure Lansing carried forth that legacy with Southern humility. Thank you for posting this photo. I have thrilled to see that he is remembered by people other than our dwindling family.
