My day ended beautifully yesterday, as I received the following email from a reader of the blog, from Mexico:
" My name is Octavio Valdés, I'm a graphic designer and animation entusiast from Mexico. I have seen CriCri el Grillito Cantor on TV since I was a kid, here they show it at least once a year on Xmas season.
I got my hands on a [bad recording of the movie] but it turned out to be damaged and I was only able to capture a few screens (all from the opening titles). I'll do my best to get ahold of a better copy. I hope to eventually upload the clip on youtube, in the meantime here are the ones I have.
The sequence goes like this: at the tune of Los Cochinitos Dormilones (The Sleepy Piglets) we see the Three Little Pigs getting ready to sleep. Their mother kisses them goodnight and they have diferent dreams. The first one dreams he is a king and orders 500 cakes. The second dreams he is at sea but falls off the bed before boarding the boat. And the third one dreams of working and helping his mom. At this point the sequence deviates from the plot of the song and we see the Big Bad Wolf collecting the rent from the pig's mom. She can't pay and the wolf asks her to pay or leave. The little pigs then enter a talent contest (they sing a song that goes "the wolf is not big and bad, he is just a joker") and at this point some "mexican celebration" footage is introduced, recycled from The Three Caballeros. The little pigs win the prize but as they walk home the Big Bad Wolf tries to rob and eat them. The pigs outsmart the wolf and at the end the pigs and their mom celebrate and go to sleep."
Of course, getting such feedback so soon after the original post is the dream of every blogger. Thanks a million Octavio. I can't wait for you to find a better recording of the movie!
